MD2020 and MD9910 Fire Alarm Units: Elevating Fire Safety with Advanced Detection Technology
In a move to enhance its fire safety offering, Consilium has introduced the new MD2020 Fire Alarm Unit and the MD9910 Combined Smoke and Heat Detector. These units provide early fire detection across a wide range of industries, including the marine, commercial, and industrial sectors.
MD2020: Comprehensive Control and Monitoring
The MD2020, equipped with advanced fault detection and supplementary functions, offers comprehensive control and monitoring. Designed specifically for large-scale SRtP (Safe Return to Port) systems in the maritime industry, this solution provides exceptional scalability to meet the diverse fire protection needs of marine vessels, offshore platforms, yachts, and other maritime structures. One of its standout features is a degraded mode, which ensures continuous operation even in the event of certain failures. This redundancy significantly enhances fire safety by maintaining protection at all times.
The MD2020 also includes an intuitive touch-screen display and a web-app-based Human Machine Interface (HMI), which allows for seamless operation. Built on cross-platform technology, the HMI is accessible from devices running on Linux, Windows, Android, and macOS, accommodating a wide range of user preferences.
MD9910: Reliable Fire Safety with Test On Demand (TOD)
While the MD2020 is focused on comprehensive system management, the MD9910 addresses specific fire safety challenges. This unit is certified and available, providing combined smoke and heat detection at temperatures up to 57°C.
The MD9910 is designed for simplicity and reliability, enhancing safety with minimal disruption to the daily operations of a facility or vessel. Its smoke and heat detection technology ensures rapid response times, helping to prevent the spread of fire before it becomes uncontrollable.

Innovative Features
The MD9910 is equipped with several innovative features that enhance its functionality and ease of use:
- Test On Demand (TOD): A key innovation, TOD allows for certified testing of the detectors without the need for physical presence on-site. This feature improves efficiency by enabling remote testing, saving time and reducing costs for operators while increasing overall safety.
- Integrated Buzzer: The MD9910 includes an integrated buzzer that can be enabled or disabled during configuration, offering flexibility for room-in-room setups or other unique design requirements.
- Obstruction Sensor: The unit features a sensor that detects any obstructions that could impede smoke intake, ensuring that the system remains operational and effective even in challenging environments.
- Fault Detection: The system continuously monitors smoke and heat detection components for faults, providing an additional layer of reliability in maintaining fire safety standards.
Together, the MD2020 and MD9910 deliver reliable, scalable, and efficient fire detection solutions, tailored to meet the evolving needs of diverse industries while ensuring enhanced safety across complex environments.
