C2P: the future of fire and gas detection is here

As the safety landscape grows more complex, organisations face rapidly evolving regulations and increasing demands on safety standards. By combining adaptability, scalability and built-in cyber protection, Consilium’s new platform C2P is designed to meet the needs of tomorrow’s safety.

Growing operational complexity is raising the bar for modern safety systems. Changing requirements and the need for clearer oversight across safety functions call for solutions that can adjust over time. With its open architecture, C2P provides that flexibility in a cost-efficient and scalable way.

C2P builds on the proven foundation of the earlier CCP platform. It brings a modernized system design, a unified HMI for gas detection and expanded integration possibilities for fire detection. It also opens a gateway for additional safety applications such as temperature monitoring or oil mist detection to be included over time.

“Operational environments are becoming more complex, and that places higher expectations on every part of a safety system. Customers need solutions that can adjust as requirements change, without creating unnecessary cost or disruption. That’s why flexibility is at the core of C2P’s architecture,” says Gideon Nordberg, Head of Product Line Gas Detection.

A user-centric design lies at the heart of the platform. A consistent interface across fire detection, gas detection and the safety management system (SMiG) makes it easy for operators to navigate the system and understand the information quickly, supporting smoother operations.

“When every part of the safety chain shares the same visual and functional language, operators can spend less time interpreting and more time acting. It creates a working environment where information feels familiar, navigation becomes intuitive, and decisions come faster. That’s the guiding principle behind C2P’s design,” says Gideon Nordberg.

This approach extends into how C2P and SMiG work together. The deep integration between the two systems improves how the system is used in practice. By gathering safety-critical information into one unified overview, it gives operators a clearer understanding of situations as they develop and enables analysis of patterns over time. Events can be viewed in context, insights become easier to interpret, and decision-making becomes more informed.

“The strength of C2P and SMiG working together lies in how they bring safety data into one unified overview. When information from multiple systems is connected, operators can recognise early indicators more easily and make decisions with greater confidence,” says Mikael Andersson, Head of Product Line Fire Detection, at Consilium Safety Group.

Cybersecurity is another central component of the platform. C2P follows proven best practices and meets IACS E26 and E27 approvals, ensuring alignment with the latest international standards from day one. As regulations evolve, its flexible design supports updates that keep protection up to date without disrupting operations.

“The cybersecurity landscape moves quickly. By embedding protection into C2P’s foundation, we make sure the system can adjust and stay secure as new expectations and challenges arise,” says Mikael Andersson.

Reliability is equally important. By separating essential system functions from the display unit, critical safety features remain active even if interface components are affected. Remote diagnostics, configuration capabilities and advanced service tools support smoother maintenance and reduced downtime – strengthening reliability in everyday use.

“C2P builds on what has worked well before and adds the integration possibilities needed for the future. It’s designed to grow with our customers, adapt to new requirements and support smarter safety for years to come”, says Mikael Andersson
